Responsibilities:

Curriculum Development: Design and implement a rigorous and interdisciplinary STEAM curriculum that integrates science, technology, art, engineering, and mathematics, with a specific emphasis on technology and innovation. Apply cross-curricular instructional methods that integrate STEAM into all core subjects.

Technology Integration: Utilize a variety of technology tools, resources, and platforms to enhance instruction, facilitate active learning, and promote digital literacy skills among students.

Innovative Instruction: Engage students in hands-on, project-based learning experiences that encourage exploration, experimentation, and discovery, fostering creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.

Coding and Robotics: Teach coding skills and robotics concepts through interactive activities, coding challenges, and robotics projects, empowering students to become creators and innovators in the digital world.

Maker Education: Utilize the innovation lab as a maker space, where students can design, prototype, and test their ideas using a variety of tools, materials, and technologies.
Collaborative Projects: Facilitate collaborative projects and challenges that encourage teamwork, communication, and collaboration among students, fostering a supportive and inclusive learning community.

STEM Outreach: Collaborate with local industry partners, community organizations, and STEAM professionals to provide real-world learning opportunities, mentorship, and exploration for students. Plan and organizes STEAM fairs to promote students work and a growth mindset.

Professional Development: Stay current with emerging trends, technologies, and best practices in STEAM education through ongoing professional development, networking, and collaboration with colleagues.

Physical Demands: Provide active supervision, ensuring student safety and enforcing rules and procedures to prevent accidents or injuries. When performing activities throughout the day, the teacher spends the majority of the day standing in the classroom or walking around campus. Dealing with the students can entail kneeling or squatting, lifting, stooping, and bending. The teacher must see and hear on a continuous basis as well as speak frequently. On a rare occasion it may be necessary to move quickly, run, etc. over smooth to uneven surfaces such as on asphalt, gravel, on the playground, or on the grass. The work environment will vary from potentially very loud situations such as cafeterias and playgrounds to more moderate situations such as classrooms or large group professional settings. Adaptability to all weather conditions related to outdoor activities and/or travel is necessary. The employee must be able to work in air- conditioned and heated environments under fluorescent lighting.

Requirements

Qualifications:

– Bachelor’s degree in STEAM field, education, mathematics, graphic design, computer science or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
– Teaching credential or certification in STEAM education or related field (or eligibility for certification).
– Previous experience teaching STEAM subjects, with a focus on engineering and innovation, preferably at the elementary or middle school level.
– Proficiency in technology tools and platforms relevant to STEAM education, such as coding languages, robotics kits, 3D printing, and multimedia software.
– Strong passion for innovation, creativity, and hands-on learning in STEAM education.
– Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
Alignment with the mission and values of St. Cyril School and the Catholic Church.

Wage Range
The rate of pay offered to the selected candidate is based on internal pay policy and budget. New hires are commonly paid at the minimum of the wage range or within the lower part of the range. We consider a number of factors when making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience, training and other department needs.
